The highly-awaited Season 2 of the adult animated musical series Hazbin Hotel launches on Prime Video soon, and audience theories has been widespread.
Season 1 introduces a diverse group of characters living within Hell and Heaven, pits them against each other accompanied by musical numbers about their clashes, and establishes tense rivalries and emotional bonds that drive fan obsession.
The community's expectations for season 2 vary widely, but certain themes emerge over and over: Could Angel Dust escape his tormentor? Might we learn more about the mysterious "deal" constraining the enigmatic Alastor? Will [favorite character] and [other character] finally get together?
"Naturally, I don't produce the show with fan service specifically in mind," the showrunner commented recently. "But I feel like me being a devotee of the series implies there's a lot of it just naturally. I also want to see these things, and I want some of these things to happen, and obviously some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
The creator reveals her big-picture plan is for five seasons of Hazbin Hotel. Seasons 3 and 4 have already been green-lit by the production companies, which finance the series.
That could imply fans have to wait years for some of the major resolutions — but they may be surprised at how quickly season 2 moves, and how much of what they're anticipating unfolds now.
"I feel like people are going to be highly satisfied," she adds. "We get some firsts. I think we get some really amazing reveals, some fascinating backstories, and even basic elements, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] We're going to hear much more singing from the characters we didn't get to hear before."
She's certainly aware of the guesses and hopes about the upcoming season — especially in the form of audience prediction charts.
"I've come across a couple people make a bingo card about the new season," she mentions. "Obviously I won't share it, but I've actually done a few items, and almost all of them have almost a bingo. I thought, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that leads me to believe we accomplish much [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I realized, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that brings me joy."
Hazbin Hotel season 2 launches on Prime Video on October 29.
